WELCOME TO WEEK 25
Pelvic Floor Care That Fits Into Your Day
This week, Ema shares five simple ways to make pelvic floor exercises feel less like a chore and more like a habit.
Why It Matters (Even If You’re Not Feeling Symptoms Yet)
The pelvic floor is your body’s internal support sling and it’s already adjusting to the increased pressure from your growing uterus. Waiting until symptoms show up (like heaviness, leakage, or discomfort) isn’t the goal.
The sooner you build the habit, the more support you give your body now and after birth.
This is called habit stacking, linking a new behaviour with something you already do daily. Think of it like layering, not adding.
Try this:
Do pelvic floor squeezes while:
- Brushing your teeth
- Waiting at a traffic light
- Standing in the shower
- Sitting during a TV ad break
Sometimes we simply forget. A gentle nudge from your phone or an app can help, without making it feel like a task to tick off.
Try this:
Use a pelvic floor app with push notifications, or set recurring reminders during times you’re usually alone (like your lunch break or evening wind-down).
Bringing pelvic floor exercises into your skincare routine, bath soak, or morning body moisturising makes it feel more like care, not correction.
Example:
As you massage in oil or body cream, connect with your core and gently lift and release.
Attaching a positive affirmation to your practice helps reinforce the connection between your mind and your pelvic floor. It’s not just physical, it’s psychological support too.
Ema’s favourite:
My body is strong and supported.
You don’t need to do long sessions. What matters is consistency; a few squeezes, a few times a day, most days. That’s it.
Reminder:
Small actions done regularly beat big intentions done rarely. Go gently and keep going.
