WELCOME TO WEEK 16

Still Feeling Tired?
That’s Normal

This week, Ema shares a few practical ways to support your energy when you’re still feeling flat, physically or emotionally.

Why You Might Still Be Running Low

The second trimester is often called the “feel-good phase.” But for many women, energy doesn’t bounce back the way they’d hoped. And that’s completely okay.

Feeling tired right now doesn’t mean anything is wrong, it means your body is still doing an incredible amount of work. From hormone shifts to blood volume expansion, digestion to emotional processing, there’s a lot happening beneath the surface.

And sometimes, your body just needs a little extra support.

If your fatigue feels intense or persistent, consider checking your iron and B12 levels. Low levels are common in pregnancy and can quietly drain your energy, even if everything else looks “normal.”

Ask your healthcare provider about:

  • Ferritin (stored iron)
  • B12 and folate
  • Thyroid function if needed

Blood sugar dips can worsen fatigue, especially in pregnancy. Regular, nutrient-dense snacks can help stabilise your energy.

Ema’s go-to options:

  • Boiled eggs
  • Hummus with veggie sticks
  • Greek yogurt with seeds
  • Nut and seed trail mix

Even small snacks can have a big impact when eaten regularly.

Your sleep might still feel fragmented, that’s normal. But small improvements to your routine can help you get deeper, more restorative rest.

Supportive sleep habits include:

  • Winding down earlier in the evening
  • Limiting screens an hour before bed
  • Keeping lights low and the bedroom cool
  • Using a calming ritual: tea, gentle stretching, journaling

Needing rest during the day doesn’t make you lazy. It makes you human. Your body is still stretching, adjusting, and growing a little life and that’s a full-time job.

Try this:
Build in rest windows wherever you can. Even 10–20 minutes lying down, eyes closed, can give your nervous system a reset.
