WELCOME TO WEEK 11

Feeling Lightheaded?
You’re Not Alone.

This week, Ema shares five easy adjustments that can help you feel steadier throughout the day.

What Causes Dizziness Right Now?

In early pregnancy, your blood volume is increasing, your blood sugar can dip quickly, and your circulatory system is adapting to support both you and your baby.

These changes, while normal, can leave you feeling faint, off-balance, or spaced out, especially in the morning or after long periods of standing.

These five small adjustments can help you feel steadier throughout the day.

Even mild dehydration can make dizziness worse. Your fluid needs are higher now, and your body’s working hard to regulate temperature, blood pressure, and blood flow.

Supportive tip:
Keep a water bottle with you and sip throughout the day. Aim for small, consistent sips instead of large gulps.

Low blood sugar is a common trigger. Skipping meals or eating only simple carbs can cause sudden energy drops that lead to lightheadedness.

What helps:
Include protein, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates with meals and snacks. Think: nut butter on toast, eggs with greens, hummus and crackers.

Quick changes in position, like standing up too fast, can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure. This is called postural hypotension, and it’s especially common in the first trimester.

Try this:
When rising from bed or a chair, move slowly. Pause halfway up if you need to. Stretch gently before getting active.

Later in pregnancy this becomes more important, but even now, lying flat for long periods can reduce blood flow to the brain and contribute to dizziness.

Simple shift:
Use a pillow to stay slightly elevated when resting or napping. Side-lying is ideal as your pregnancy progresses.

Dizziness is sometimes your body’s way of saying “slow down.” If you’ve been standing for long stretches, multitasking, or pushing through fatigue, it’s okay to stop and reset.

Reminder:
Take breaks. Sit or lie down when needed. Trust your body’s cues, they’re here to protect you.
